Turkey has a complete ban on online gambling. The 2007 Internet Law empowers the authorities to block gambling websites, and thousands of sites have been blocked. Despite this, Turkey has one of the highest rates of offshore casino usage in Europe. ISP blocking is the primary enforcement mechanism, and VPN usage is widespread among Turkish gamblers. Cryptocurrency provides an additional layer of access, as crypto transactions are harder to block than traditional banking. While gambling is illegal, enforcement against individual players is rare — the government focuses on blocking access and prosecuting operators. There is no legal framework for taxation of gambling winnings.
